Based on the previous experience with weather applications, I know that the night starts at 12:00 AM and ends at 7:00 AM. Also, the updates for the application are delivered based on your preferences.

However, if you have the app installed, click the Sunset text on the lower right and you'll see when the sun sets and rises, the exact dates.

What happened to the Weather Forecast on the 8's for Rutland, Vt.? Also, on the bottom of the screen, it isn't right either. Can you please get it fixed as soon as possible? I miss it terribly.

Answer by Julia Bocchetta

You have probably encountered a maintenance session. You should leave the software as it is or simply force quit it using Task Manager > Processes. Locate the process in the list and kill it then restart it using the shortcut on your Desktop or Start menu and it should work. After the maintenance is over, the data should display correctly.

On a side note, it's known that the application is having problems with weather display for random locations.

On my desktop my icon is orange where it shows the temp., when you pull up the map there are no warnings. What is going on? It's been this way for 2 days now.

Answer by Robert Polubinski

This must be an error of the application because normally it would turn to blue color when no warnings appear on screen. My advice is to try to close the application and then open it again. The data sent by the server is handled by the application but it's possible that it was an error. Additionally, the alert might be set up for for another region that is set to be hidden from your application. Check the settings and location and everything should return to normal.

I have The Weather Channel shortcut on my desktop because I want to be able to open it occasionally. I want the local temperature to appear in my system tray. I was speaking with a Dell technician last evening and he changed some things I wasn't aware of. I don't have it placed in task-bar anymore. How can I get it back?

I have just found out that Weather Channel is back on Direct. I usually hit a red button on my control and my local forecast comes up. I have tried all day and I can't get it. Has this option been taken off since it has returned to Direct TV?

S
Answer by Sean Hill

There were problems between The Weather Channel and Direct TV but those problems have been settled. The Weather Channels option can be accessible indoor, outdoor on internal or external devices as long as you are a subscriber. Since it's not mentioned, it's possible the button feature to be removed. Instead you can access the channel for weather informations.

I would like to say that I love the Weather Channel program, but I'm not satisfied with the radar maps that appear when a severe weather is coming in a area. Many states have the same names for countries and cities. Can you help?

Answer by Pete Clapp

In order to fix the issue, uninstall the application with its uninstaller or the Add or Remove Programs feature (Control Panel > Uninstall a program) and download and install the latest version of the program from the official web page. Click the blue Download Now button, save the file to your computer and install the utility following the on-screen instructions.

We live in central Florida. The reports from this application will say West winds, but they are heading east. I thought West wind means it's coming from the west not heading west. Is this accurate?

L
Answer by Leonard Moore

Indeed. The West winds are coming from the west and are heading east. Also, there are Eastern winds that are coming from the east and are heading west. Even if the system is displaying West winds, these can change their course for a short period of time, or the behavior that you encounter can be generated by an internal error of the application or by a communication error with the server. To make sure that you don't encounter this behavior anymore, make sure that you keep your application up-to-date.

Why don't the program forecast the barometric pressure since it affects all people with arthritis?

A
Answer by Aiden McLeod

Unfortunately, barometric pressure can't be forecasted because it's a force that is calculated. In order to calculate the barometric pressure, you need to use several parameters that aren't constant. Moreover, the barometric pressure is used for weather forecasting. Due to variations of this force, you can predict if it's going to rain or be sunny. There isn't a program that can forecast the barometric pressure, including this one.

How does this Winter compare to the winters of 30 plus years ago in respects to 'Global Warming'? I remember when temps dropped well below zero in the northern tier of the United States several times in the early 1980's. There were -30 to -40 degrees F. lows from Montana to Michigan. Today they are getting no more than -20 degrees F. as lows. Are the swathes' of artic air smaller nowadays than they were 30 years ago?

R
Answer by Robert Polubinski

The climate has been changed over the years due to multiple factors including pollution and global warming. These are the two main factors that caused the temperatures change. The Weather Channel Desktop will give you instant information about weather climate. You can then use the available data to compare it with the past records. However, this discussion is very ample, but the The Weather Channel Desktop application should give you a basic view about how the climate changes.
